Margareta Matišić - Mezzosoprano

Margareta Matišić, a Croatian mezzo-soprano, made her debut in 2018 at the Croatian National Theatre Ivan pl. Zajc in Rijeka with the role of Mistress Quickly in Falstaff by G. Verdi. This was followed by her debut at the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb, where she first sang the role of the Third Lady in Mozart's  Magic Flute, then the roles of Suzuki from Madama Butterfly by G. Puccini, Marcellina from The Marriage of Figaro by W. A. ​​Mozart, Mercédès from the opera Carmen by G. Bizet, Mrs. Nolan from the opera The Medium by G. Menotti, Flora Bervoix from La Traviata by G. Verdi.  At the Croatian National Theatre in Split she made her debut at the Split Summer Festival singing the role of Doma in Jakov Gotovac's most successful opera Ero the Joker. She started her international career in 2023 by debuting at the Slovenian National Theatre Opera in ballet Ljubljana, performing one of Gustav Mahler's greatest symphonies "Das Lied von der Erde" under the direction of maestro Kevin Rhodes. She achieved her great success in 2024 with the role of Charlotte in the opera Werther by J. Massenet and the role of Azucena from Verdi's Il Trovatore. In the same year, she joined the Ljubljana Opera ansamble as a soloist. She continued her successful international career with the role of Fenena from Nabucco by G. Verdi in Finland at the prestigious summer festival Savolinna Opera Festival. Already as a student, she got the opportunity for her first successes, starting with the role of the Sorceress from the opera Dido and Aeneas by H. Purcell, which was performed in Hungary and Croatia, then the role of Ottone from Agrippina by G. F. Handel.  She also played the role of Maria Theresa in the musical Trenk Cabaret, which was performed at the Komedija Theater in Zagreb and in halls throughout Croatia. In addition to the opera repertoire, she also actively performs in the concert repertoire. In 2019, she performed Beethoven's Ninth Symphony with the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra at the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall in Zagreb under the direction of Maestro David Danzmayer. She also performed as a soloist with the Symphony Orchestra and Choir of the Academy of Music in Zagreb performing work by Josip Štolcer Slavenski: Chaos and Religiophony at the Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall in Zagreb, as well as at the Slovenian Philharmonic Hall in Ljubljana under the direction of Mladen Tarbuk and at the 43rd May Music Memorial in Čakovec under the direction of Matija Fortune. In addition to the above, she has collaborated and performed with esteemed conductors such as Marco Boemi, Oleg Caetani, Nikša Bareza, Roberto Gianola, Ville Matvejeff, Srba Dinić, Tomislav Fačini, Zoran Juranić, Marcello Mottadelli, Ayrton Desimpelaere, Beatrice Venezi, Pyotr Vandilovsky, Zsolt Hamar, Josip Šego, Aleksandar Kalajdžić, Hari Zlodre, James Sherlock, and others. She performed concerts all ove Europe in Croatia, Austria, Spain, Italy, Hungary, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, etc.  She performed with the Belarusian State Chamber Orchestra at the Varaždin Baroque Evenings, the Osijek Summer of Culture, the Science Festival, the Osijek Youth Summer, the Vukovar Chamber Music Festival. She was a member of the Osijek Chamber Ensemble.  In 2018, she qualified for the finals of the Zinke Milanov International Singing Competition in Rijeka. In 2016, she qualified for the finals of the Hans Gabor Belvedere International Singing Competition in Cape Town, South Africa. She graduated with the highest grade in 2012 in the class of Prof. Berislav Jerković earning the academic title of Master of Music. In 2010 she received the Dean's Award for her success in artistic work in the field of music and success during her studies. From 2015 to 2017, she studied at the Academy of Music in Zagreb with the esteemed prima donna Vlatka Oršanić. During her career she has also participated in numerous international singing seminars, such as the Eba Stignani masterclass in Imola, Italy, seminars for the interpretation of Liede with Prof. Annemarie Zeller and Prof. Gerhard Zeller in Austria, the Aestas musica (London) baroque music and dance seminars in Varaždin, etc. She also has more than ten years of experience as a vocal pedagogue, where she worked as a professor of singing, chamber music and stage movement at the Music School in Varaždin, Croatia.

In seguito ha debuttato al Teatro Nazionale Croato di Zagabria, dove ha cantato per la prima volta il ruolo della Terza Dama nel Flauto Magico di Mozart, poi i ruoli di Suzuki da Madama Butterfly di G. Puccini, Marcellina da Le Nozze di Figaro di W. A. ​​Mozart, Mercédès dall'opera Carmen di G. Bizet, Mrs. Nolan dall'opera The Medium di G. Menotti, Flora Bervoix da La Traviata di G. Verdi. Al Teatro Nazionale Croato di Spalato ha debuttato al Festival Estivo di Spalato cantando il ruolo di Doma nell'opera più di successo di Jakov Gotovac Ero il Joker.
